JMU Family Weekend takes place October 2-4, 2026, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The weekend typically includes a full schedule of activities for students and their families, so it's worth planning your accommodations early.
And while staying close to campus may be at the top of your list, you don't necessarily have to book a traditional hotel. Depending the kind of weekend you're planning, a vacation rental can give you a little more room to settle in between campus activities.
Instead of booking a single room, you can have an entire home, condo or cabin to yourselves. Your stay might include a kitchen for morning coffee and breakfast, separate bedrooms, a living room for hanging out, a hot tub for relaxing, and more room to enjoy downtime together.
That extra space can be especially helpful when you're bringing grandparents, siblings, or the whole family along for the weekend.
